Hanfstaengel Gallery, New York, 1922. In Historia de Mi Vida Torres-García described how Dr. Rudolf Meyer Riefstahl, a professor of art history at New York University, introduced him to the Hanfstaengel Gallery: "He introduced me to Haftangel[sic], the gallery dealer on 47th Street [sic], who exhibited works by Torres-García in his gallery, who despaired to see that the people did not understanding the painting [Le hace conocer a Haftangel[sic], el marchand de la calle 47[sic], que expone obras de Torres-García en su galería, el cual se desespera de ver que la gente no comprende aquella pintura]."
