In Historia de Mi Vida, Torres-García states that this is the only painting he sold in 1929. It is believed that the purchase price for the work for $50, based on the value Katharine Dreier stated on the customs declaration and insurance (Collection of the Société Anonyme: Museum of Modern Art 1920). Torres-Garcia gifts an additional six watercolors of the 1921 Independent Artists Ball in New York to Dreier with this purchase.
